In any case, I'm hoping that I'm just making a mistake in one of my settings (either import or export), so if anyone has any ideas, your help would be greatly appreciated.

My understanding is that Adobe Premiere Pro can work with AVCHD (supposedly) natively, so I can only assume that FCS 3 (when it finally comes out) will also have better support for AVCHD, including better presets in Compressor for exporting back to AVCHD. Anyone have a successful workflow exporting back to HD H.264 from FCP using Compressor/Quicktime/whatever?

I've exported to SD DVD using Compressor and that actually looked quite good, way better than SD from my GL-2, but the HD output just doesn't look as good as the original. Additionally, it took about 4 hours to compress 6 minutes of footage using the Quicktime compressor!Īs a side note, the SDHC card plays fine in my PS-3 and the video quality is excellent (though the low light sensitivity of the HFS-100 leaves a lot to be desired), but when I play my exported H.264 on the PS-3, it exhibits judder and interlacing artifacts. I've tried numerous settings in Compressor as well as the Quicktime encoder and the exported file does not look as good as the original. I can import into FCP using L&T converting to ProRes (1920x1080 29.97), but I can't seem to find the right settings to export back to H.264 AVC that looks as good as the original. I'm shooting at 24p in the 60i wrapper in the highest bitrate of 24 Mbps.

I have a Canon Vixia HFS-100 AVCHD camcorder (which I can still return if the issue is with the camera). Ok, I've searched the entire FCP forum and could not find an answer to my issue.
